Chicago, IL — Dr. Rachael Ross, the nationally recognized relationship expert and sexologist, is urging everyone to get tested for HIV/AIDS as part of the global effort to stem the spread of the illness, reaching epidemic proportions.

"This is no joke," said Ross, a family physician and relationship expert who advises teens, young adults and couples on health issues and safe sex. "We've got to fight the spread, and one of the ways is getting tested, practicing safe sex and taking care of ourselves and loved ones."

Ross is gearing up for World AIDS Day on December 1 where she is hoping to call attention to the alarming fact that every nine and a half minutes someone in the U.S. becomes infected with HIV. Recently, Washington, DC health officials declared HIV/AIDS a ‘severe epidemic.' Ross is particularly concerned about the African-American population, which has a higher proportion of its population compared to other residents in the U.S. infected with the virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

As a clinically trained sexologist, Ross pulls no punches. She advocates abstinence for teenagers and promotes safe sex practices for heterosexuals and gay couples.

"I've talked to so many people over the years who have bad information about HIV/AIDS," said Ross, who offers her relationship advice weekly on Chicago's Power 92FM and for the Tavis Smiley Show. "I'm making it my mission to make sure that there's good information available. I'm here to bust the myths, breakdown the truth and keep people healthy."

Ross, a native Gary, Indiana who now lives in Chicago, has distinguished herself as a dynamic, progressive and straight-talking relationship expert who actively engages her fans around the country.
