Equality Illinois (formerly the Illinois Federation for Human Rights) was founded in 1991 by John Henri Damski, Lana Hostetler, Art Johnston, Rick Garcia and Kit Duffy to secure, protect, and defend the basic civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons in the state of Illinois.
