Dear Princess,
I need a getaway, maybe for one or for two people, for a "breather weekend". Any suggestions?
Desperate!
Dear Getaway,
There are so many lovely places to visit that it's hard to make a decision. First comes to mind is Toronto. Montreal and Quebec City are lovely. The American dollar is very strong right now. For the culture, beauty, nightlife, and value, it's well worth your time and investment.
Check the internet for hotels and fares. I love to travel Air Canada. In Toronto, Four Season is located in Yorkville which is their Beverly Hills. There are many Bed and Breakfasts available.
In Montreal, the Queen Elizabeth is lovely. There are many inns in Old Montreal with history and character. In Quebec City, we usually stay at one of the historic inns, bed and breakfasts, or the fabulous Chateau Frontenac (which is my favorite!).
If you don't want to go north, then I suggest a whimsical and fairyland trip to Disneyworld. Our close friends surprised us with a beautiful trip to the Grand Floridian. Disneyworld is meant for adults.
We had soooooo much fun. There is Pleasure Island, and Disney Market Place. Tons of shopping, and the renewal of one's childhood of wonderment and fantasy. You'd enjoy MGM Studios. Check it out on the internet. You'll find the listing of restaurants, parks, hotels, etc.
Have fun. You only need three days at each location. But, remember, to enjoy your "breather", go with friends you enjoy and have similar tastes-you'll have more fun that way and do more that you both will enjoy!
Let me know how you enjoyed these cities-p.s. I suggest that you visit Quebec in the Spring, Summer, Fall. My friends in Quebec remind me that it's cold, and starts to snow around November 1st. For me anyway!
