Dear D.
What's in style for men's clothing this spring? Where should I shop for some good work suits and what kind of suit should I get?

Dear "Suit"or,
There's a whole new world out there for you to travel and venture into. The world of textiles, design, colors and prices can be confusing, frustrating, or exciting and fun! Run to pickup your first GQ magazine!
Looking for your first suit or additional selections can be fun. Just think of the value, purpose, and style that accommodate your needs.
Just look, look, look, and ask questions before you buy. If this is your first venture, than 2 suits that you can wear three seasons, 2 sports jackets, and 3 pairs of slacks should do the trick for your starter wardrobe.
There's a great Italian influence in men's clothing. The lines are clean, single breasted in solids, or pinstripes.
Try to select a look which flatters and compliments your coloring, shape, profession, image, and personal style. Not to mention pocketbook.
In regards to dress shirts, select a collar that compliments your shape of your face and neck. Remember the dress shirt should work well with the suit. Stick with the classic white until your comfortable working with a color palate. The classic color white is strong this year.
French cuffs in Europe is strong. Cufflinks are available for dress and casual wear. There's nothing classier than a man wearing links. It adds such a fine finishing touch. French cuffs may be worn with jeans and black boots. Leave your initals off your shirt until your comfortable with the look and image.
Ties are your calling card! Silk in different weights and weaves are beautiful especially when they are hand dyed or painted. Artist's work such as Gail Mackenzie, Juliene, Joanna, and Murphy offer a myriad of colors and patterns to choose from. You will their work at fine galleries.
Shoes and belts should reflect the style and color of the suit. Your shoes are a reflection of yourself.
Now, to look for a good suit, Brooks Brothers offers quality and style. Bloomingdales and Nordstroms always offer solid designers and private label lines.
Please don't forget to coordinate your socks with your suit and shoes. Small texture weaves are fine if they don't bark at you when you and others look down-and if you can see them when you look down, YOUR PANTS ARE TOO SHORT!
Last but not least, remember your profession, peers, and geographic environment. Dress for success but not over the top!
Have fun, and let me know how "suited" the information was for you!
