Windy City Rollers All-Stars in national roller derby tournament

The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association have announced that the Windy City Rollers will compete for the national roller derby title in the fourth annual WFTDA National Tournament from Nov. 13 to 15, 2009, in Philadelphia. The Windy City Rollers of Chicago placed first at the North Central regional championships, earning them an invitation to the national tournament and a first round bye. WCR will play the winner of Kansas City v. Denver in the second round of play. Their first game will be at 1:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Nov. 14. Tickets: $35-45/day, $85-115 for three-day pass

Bruce Hornsby

A 13-time Grammy-nominee and three-time Grammy Award-winner, Bruce Hornsby is a master of musical styles ranging from classical to rock and jazz to folk, singer-songwriter. A part-time member of the iconic group The Grateful Dead, Hornsby’s solo performances ignite the stage with spontaneity and fluid creativity. Rolling Stone says Hornsby “singlehandedly reestablished the grand piano as a viable rock instrument.” The concert set list, which will surely include his biggest hit “The Way it Is,” is created on-the spot exclusively from audience requests.
