This
fall Common Ground and Columbia College Chicago are proud to host the
Eighth Annual Coming Out Ball, a yearly gala hosted each year by a
different college celebrating National Coming Out Day for the GLBTQ
youths of the Chicago area. Every year the proceeds of the event are
donated to a different GLBTQ related charity of Chicago chosen by the
hosting school.
This year’s Coming Out Ball will have the
theme of Beautiful Dirty Hollywood. With a motif that is so open to
interpretation, those attending will be able to have their own take on
Tinseltown. From the nitty gritty gangsters, to the glamorous Old
Hollywood divas, guests will be able to interpret the era and glamour
of their favorite aspects of Hollywood.
A cocktail party will be
hosted in a lounge area, which will be decorated as if it were an Old
Hollywood nightclub with wait staff serving hors d'oeuvres and faux
cocktails to guests. The lounge will also be featuring a wide array of
artwork produced by students of Columbia College Chicago. The actual
dance floor is where a majority of the night will take place, with
guests dancing and entertainers performing on stage.
